Nail Surgery

An ingrowing toe nail can be caused by a range of different issues such as poorly fitting footwear, stubbing your toe, genetic nail shape and poor nail cutting techniques. It can be extremely painful and debilitating. Sometimes an ingrowing toe nail can be treated conservatively in a standard podiatry appointment but when this is unsuccessful a surgical procedure is indicated to resolve the problem permanently.

Local Anaesthetic

The toe is injected with local anaesthetic to make sure the surgical procedure is completely painless. The anaesthetic will wear off after a few hours.

Surgical procedure

You could be offered a total or a partial nail removal surgery depending on your specific needs. Usually a chemical called Phenol is used to prevent the nail re-growing.

Aftercare

You will be given clear instructions on how to care for your toe after surgery and how to prevent infection. You will have follow up appointments to manage your healing and recovery.

Surgery Package Price

The surgery package includes the anaesthetic, surgical procedure, redressing and review appointments until healed. The cost can vary between £500-£650 depending on each patient's specific needs.
